Fantastic Blognanza!

Sorry about the late-ish update. But it’s still Monday on the west coast, where two of the three of us are currently located! So I think it technically still counts?

Anyway, today’s featured thingummy is People Like Us, a collective of cool chaps (and chapettes?) from Sydney, Australia who like to make extremely spiffy t-shirts. (Hey, these people are just like us! Except we’re not from Australia.)

People Like Us recently updated their website, and it looks supah-fine. I actually quite enjoyed their old site, but I think this one is even better, so good work People Like Us! I approve heartily!

Along with the site upgrade comes a handful of new tees to join an already-great line-up. (One of my personal favorites of their older designs is Monstrocity, a fun variation on the timeless Monster-Destroying-City theme.) These new tees are all part of something they call their “White” range, which are shirts printed with a new “super-technology” that allows for at least “a zillion colors, gradients, and detail you need a magnifying glass to see.” Here’s one of them, called Self Concious v2:

One of the reasons I’m drawn to this particular design is probably because it is decidedly reminiscent of one of my favorite games, Katamari Damacy. I mean, it’s essentially a picture of a big ball of STUFF, so in that regard it reflects a pretty important aspect of the game. But the bright, strong colors and simple geometric shapes also capture the game’s aesthetic pretty closely, too. This is great for me, because I love the cartoony, childlike design of it all. Sure, the resemblance probably isn’t deliberate, but that doesn’t change the fact that I’m a fan.

Aside from this one, it looks like there are maybe five other new shirts at People Like Us’s site for you to check out, if you haven’t done so already. Also, if you’re going to buy a shirt, you might also want to think about splurging a little and shooting for the extra-special packaging. Why? Here’s a snippet from their FAQ:

“If you decide to pay the little extra and get People Like Us packaging with your tees you’ll receive People Like Us stickers, candy, toys and postcards with exclusive works by some of the other artists in the People Like Us Collective all put together in a very re-usable cotton library bag.
You can always decide to do without it, but that’d be like meat with no gravy - not nearly as good.”
