The Attak of the Stat

It looks like the dudes over at StolenShirts have started up a new line (or sub-brand, or whatever you want to call it) of statistic-inspired shirts. They call it StatAttak, and the specific statistics in question are some very depressing numbers that come from sub-Saharan Africa. Here’s an example of one of the designs, to give you an idea of what the tees are like:

(art)≠(fart)-(f)

Speaking of art, Brendan Monroe and a few friends are having an art show that opens on January 20th (which is Saturday, i.e. TOMORROW) at the Art Prostitute Gallery (2919-C Commerce, Dallas TX). If I were in Texas, I would definitely go. But since I’m not, you should go for me and tell me how awesome it is. I really like Brendan’s work. I’ll write about his t-shirts some time in the future, I promise.

Also speaking of art, if you didn’t already know, Banksy has a pretty neat online shop. And the best part is, everything in it is free. Speaking of Banksy, anybody catch Banksy’s “Kissing Coppers” in Children of Men? That was fun to see.

A Veritable Bonanza of Ideas

Currently, the three of us Bonanziers are working on developing the designs for the next batch of Fantastic Bonanza shirts, which we’re planning to release at the beginning of the summer. We’ve come up with a ton of ideas; so many, in fact, that we’d never physically be able to print ‘em all. Thus, our task: to pare down the field of design ideas.*

Well, we figured that since you’re the ones who are buying the shirts, we should see what you all have to say! It only seems fair. So I’ve compiled a list of some of the ideas we’ve been bouncing around, but which we don’t exactly know what to do with:

“It’s Raining on My Hat” and “Bringing Food to Master” at innerTee

I know I’ve written before about innerTee, but that was before I’d even seen any of their goods! Now that I have, I can say that I’m pretty impressed. The concept, if you’re not familiar with it already, is mixing user-submitted pieces of wearable art (called “elements”) in whatever way you please; they then screenprint every customized shirt individually. Even though each shirt is unique, they don’t sacrifice the quality of their prints, which have a soft hand. They feel like they’re probably plastisol inks with softener added.

This is one of the shirts that I myself mixed and ordered from innerTee:

If you’re curious about what this shirt looked like when I designed it on their site (and you should be!), take a peak:

‘Somewhere’ at Imaginary Foundation

I’ve always been very impressed by the vivid colors and absurd/surreal imagery used by Nick over at Imaginary Foundation. Their new releases are no exceptions. This time around, it’s Somewhere that stands out to me most. I’m a really big fan of what they’ve been doing with clouds lately. First they had their Cloud Hoodie (which may just be the best hoodie ever… too bad I’ll probably never get to see one in person), and now this. At least the t-shirt is within my budget.

1st Fantastic Bonanza Free T-Shirt Contest

Fantastic Bonanza has decided to have a monthly contest to win any one of their fine t-shirts. The premise is quite simple: we’ll put up some sort of question or prompt on this here blog on the seventh (7th) day of each month, and you the reader post your response as a comment to the blog entry. Whoever writes the response that we think is best for whatever reason (we agree with it the most, the funniest, the weirdest, etc.) wins a free Fantastic Bonanza t-shirt! We’ll announce the winner on the seventh (7th) day of the next month, at which point we’ll announce the next prompt/question!

This month’s question is: “What is the most FANTASTIC thing that has ever happened ever?”

We’ll let you know who won the free t-shirt on February 7th! Oh, and you absolutely must enter your email so we can contact you if you win! Don’t worry, we won’t give it away to anybody or anything. We look forward to hearing your thoughts. Good luck!
