Itty Bitty Ad Space

I’m just writing to inform you that we’re trying out two tiny advertising boxes over on right , under just above all the links the ‘Latest Posts’. They are brought to you by Project Wonderful and are the first time we’ve ever tried making any money (even if it’s just cents) off of this blog. Hopefully we will be able to use the $$$s (note: number of ‘$’s subject to change at any time) to run our own little ads. Maybe we’ll be able to do some donations like Andy at Hide Your Arms, although out of all the tee shirt blogs (okay, he does long sleeves only), I think he has a pretty large readership; he deserves it, though!

support your move! you know I do =P
well, although get small paid (per cents) could be painful at the beginning. don’t shy away with few experimentation — it could be fun.

but I’m getting confuse here — are you guys T-shirt seller who blog, or blogger who sells the stuffs?

I think, Tcritic also receive fair amount from its ads.

Heh, we’re t-shirt sellers who blog; but as you can see, we don’t let that cloud our judgement! It would be cool if we could get our blog to be self-supporting with only a little advertising, so that’s our goal. I’m sure Tcritic does get pretty much from ads… but they have tons of readers!

I really love doing the donation stuff, but its just so hard to pick a charity considering there are so many out there and you usually don’t know where your money is going, which is why I usually pick kiva.org since you’re giving the money directly to someone in need.

Also, I do probably undercharge for my image ads by industry standards, because I feel so guilty asking indie design labels for money when I know their ad budgets aren’t very big.

Kiva.org does seem like a pretty cool organization. Have you ever read George Lakoff’s ‘Moral Politics’? It’s about U.S. politics, but it presents a reasonably strong case for the funding of (liberal) think tanks instead of donating directly to people in need, even though the latter is the liberal inclination.

Especially considering how most of what you write is partially free advertisement… I’d say yeah, you probably do undercharge :D

It’s unwritten HYA policy not to support charities or organisations that have an obvious political bias, its not really a personal thing, but if I were on the right and my advertising money was going to an organisation that promoted the left I probably wouldn’t be too happy.

Its entirely possible that I’ve actually read part of Moral Politics (I have a politics degree), and I certainly recognise the authors name.

That policy completely makes sense; I wouldn’t donate Fantastic Blognanza revenue to politically biased organizations, either… although it does seem like most t-shirt bloggers lean to the left, judging from the dozens of them that I read.

Lakoff’s more well-known book is ‘Don’t Think of an Elephant’.
