Lots of New Clothing (Including T-shirts!) at Sub Urban Riot

I think… I think I might have a thing for sailing ships. I don’t know whether it’s the way their prows cut through the waves or the way their masts tower defiantly over the deep… but I find them irresistible. And that’s why Pirate Riot is my favorite of the new releases (including t-shirts for men and women, hoodies, and dresses - an awesome selection!) at Sub Urban Riot.

Pirate Riot NEW! at Sub Urban Riot $40

If you’re looking for quality in your pirate ship t-shirts, look no further (as attested in my in-hand review of Sub Urban Riot from April). Both their garments and prints are excellent and show an exquisite attention to detail. The color transition in the print looks fantastic (check out this ridiculously huge close-up image)!

Crazy Boat Hat Lady T-Shirt on Etsy

Hat Lady - Full Spectrum - Etsy
Hat Lady from Full Spectrum on Etsy $25

That is a crazy hatcrazy lady (obviously). Which is what makes this indie t-shirt, Hat Lady on Etsy remarkably amazing. Since Full Spectrum’s Etsy shop is organized by size, I’m just going to link to her main page and let you find your own size. It’s pretty easy.

If you don’t like sleeves, or you don’t like yellow, Hat Lady is also available on a long-sleeve gray shirt! So no matter how long you like your sleeves, or how yellow you like your t-shirts, you’re covered. As long as you’re of the female persuasion, because these crazy boat hat ladies are available only on women’s garments (although I bet if you asked nicely she’d print you one on a different style).

Angler Fish Are New at Squidfire!

Angler Fish - Kevin Sherry - SquidFire (men’s)
Angler Fish NEW! at SquidFire $25

Aah! It’s a moonquake! Not really, it’s just an angler fish! It’s still pretty scary, though. And the little fish that it’s about to gobble up is really cute. Which combination adds up to make Angler Fish one top-notch t-shirt design.

If you go to many (or few) independent clothing boutiques, it’s not unlikely that you’ve run into some of SquidFire’s designs, potentially without even knowing it! They’re getting stocked by lots of awesome shops. Just a week ago I saw a large selection of their t-shirts at Missing Link in Portland, OR, which is primarily a vinyl toy store, but have a lot of clothing and reading material as well. It’s really great, so I recommend you visit if you’re ever in Portland!

Design by Hümans in Barcelona!

Well, sharing their passion for t-shirts and octopus trees I feel very nicely honoured to have been asked by the fantastic guys from the Blognanza to write a guest post about how some of the t-shirts from Design By Hümans made their way to Europe. So first let me briefly introduce myself: My name is Sven Palmowski (aka a.mar.illo) and I was born and raised in Germany. I have worked as a freelance illustrator for more than a decade, which allows me to make a living from my passion for drawing. In 2004, I made a new home in Barcelona, Spain.

The shipping of our shirts only took 7 days from California to Spain, which is a very short time for a package like that, and fortunately I did not have any problems with extra customs expenses. The package arrived in good condition and had even some trinkets in it like pencils and stickers.

These are the shirts my girlfriend, Carmen, and I ordered:

I Did by skaffa might be the cutest girl’s t-shirt at Design By Hümans, and it’s Carmen´s favourite too; the very first day wearing it she was asked about it by shop assistants in one of the countless little indie/alternative fashion boutiques in the gothic quarter of Barcelona. Simply cute with its pocket appliqué:)

underwaterdeer by fawnfruit was my favourite illustration in the Kick Off Contest. When I first saw it, I was convinced I had the winning design before me. It did not win, but it made Shirt of the Day and it’s an absolutely fantastic shirt. It’s also printed on a thicker and softer fabric than the others.

Chaos came from the Ocean by Steven is my personal favourite of the men’s shirts we ordered. The shiny silver highlights makes it just perfect.

Rescue by ckoelle is an impressive print. We only have it in the women’s version, but Carmen is very happy with this one too.

The Adventure by dwgagner is a design I love very much, but it’s the only one of the shirts that disappointed me a little bit at first sight. The ‘Large’ shirt is larger then the other ‘Large’ shirts (all the others fit me perfectly), and I´m not totally convinced about the reverse seams (which is a good idea but in this case it means just being printed on an inside-out t-shirt).
But after wearing it a while, I liked it too.

I don´t want to comment on the last of the designs, treepeople by a_mar_illo, because it’s my own ;) I will say this much: the soft prints and the shirts are just perfect… love!!!

Emptees Is Actually Quite Full

Full of t-shirty goodness, that is. Or maybe the name is short for “Empirical Tees”?

Emptees Header

Anyway! Emptees is a nifty site where you can browse through and comment on a large selection of t-shirts that have been posted by their respective t-shirt vendors. Registered users can vote for their Most Loved tees and comment on posted designs. Want to talk about t-shirt related business? Check out the forum, dude! There’s even a featured Tee Of The Day — which I assume changes daily — and a brief Top Rated Tees subsection on the main page. Statisti-riffic!

If you’re lookin’ to post one of the t-shirts in your store, then follow these handy-dandy steps:

Fantastic Bonanza Free T-Shirt Contest VIII: Return of Fantastic Bonanza

After a lengthy hiatus — and now that our new t-shirts have descended upon the world in full force — we’re re-engaging our monthly contests here at Fantastic Blognanza. Are you pumped? Get pumped!!

Since we posed no question last month, there is no winner to announce! So let’s move right along with the contest prompt for October 2007:

We Bonanziers enjoy our music. So much so, in fact, that we’ve decided to form our own band! Yeah, man!

We have most of the details worked out, but there’s just one last thing we still need to resolve. What the hell are we going to name our band? We got nothin’! Name our band for us! Before it’s too late!

If that prompt seems a little paltry, feel free to embellish your answer with a few details about the band itself, if you’re so inclined. Not that we’re pressuring people to do so — it’s just that some people like words more than others!

Lastly, don’t forget to include your email in the appropriate field when you respond! See you in approximately 30 days, people!
