Heavy Rotation Is Better Than Statistical Parsing

Readers! It has been brought to my attention that Heavy Rotation has a smorgasbord of t-shirts that we have not yet blogged. It is difficult for me to contain my excitement.

So difficult, in fact, that I could not wait to tell you. Indeed, I am writing to you from my Computational Linguistics classroom, purposely forgoing knowledge that is critical to my education1, for the sole purpose of giving you all this Heavy Rotation-related update. That’s right—statistical parsing is taking a back-seat to these tees. That is how excited I am.

Anyway, onto the shirts. By some freak chance, they are all animal-related. Go figure! First up is Icy Break, a design specifically for the ladies:

Ice Break

Although I wasn’t a big fan of that damn penguin movie, I’m still a fan of the little guys in general. I mean, c’mon—look at how cute he is! He looks like he’s ready to set out on some exciting adventure! That’s what you get with this tee: excitement and adventure. Also, look at his boots! Them cleats be dangerous (although probably very helpful for getting some traction on that slippery ice)! Godspeed, young penguin—Godspeed.

Next up is Owl Magic:

This design is bold and huge. I like that. I also like how looking at the owl’s eyes is like staring into the deep and unblinking Eye of Infinity. Owls are spooky but wise, and this shirt captures that really well.

Finally, we have Deep Sea Giant:

Deep Sea Giant

Just yesterday I spent an hour or two looking back at some of the shirts and stores we’ve blogged about over the past few months, and I was struck by the preponderance of octopi. For example, here are some octopus tees from Resist Today, here’s one from Enclothe, and of course there’s Fantastic Bonanza’s own Octotree. Heck, even one of Heavy Rotation’s other new tees has an octopus on it. One of these days, I’ll have to empirically test my theory that of all animals, octopi are the ones that appear most frequently on independently designed t-shirts.

Not that any of this is a bad thing, of course—I’m just observing a trend. Furthermore, I firmly believe that Heavy Rotation’s contributions to the field of Octopus-Related Design are among the most impressive out there.

That’s all I have for now, but check out the rest of Heavy Rotation’s new stuff. And, they have a sale going on right now! So that’s pretty neat, too.

1 If you’re at all interested in what I’m missing out on for the sake of this blog post, here it is. It’s actually kind of neat!
