You know, as much as I love being a student and making t-shirts, my real dream is to someday become…

…a LUMBERJACK!

Actually, no, that’s not true. As much as I respect the noble art of lumberjacking, it’s not for me. I’m simply not hardy enough for the tree-felling lifestyle. And if there’s one thing a lumberjack needs to be, it’s hardy.

In spite of my own failings, I still nurture a healthy respect and appreciation for the hard work of lumberjacks everywhere. As I’m always looking for novel ways to express my admiration, you can imagine how excited I was to hear about Timber at Etsy!

Although there are many shirts at Timber that I like very much, here is my very favorite, simply titled Balloon:


Now call me crazy, but for some reason this image reminds me of some kind of Chris Van Allsburg illustration. I don’t know if maybe that’s a bit of a stretch for you, but it makes sense to me.One last note: as you may have noticed above, many of Timber’s designs feature the store’s name relatively prominently. Normally, I find this a big turn-off (as do the other Bonanziers). I suspect that you yourself, dear reader, might also be averse to such branding. But for some reason, I really don’t mind it here. My theory: the exclamation “TIMBER!” seems very natural to me when it is written next to axes, lumberjacks, trees, and the like; hence, I feel as though it adds to, rather than detracts from, the designs.

Opinions differ, however, and maybe you disagree with me on this point. That’s okay! Just make sure to take a look at the rest of Timber’s offerings before you come to any hasty conclusions.
