Leggo My Teeco—OMG Tees

We glossed over this one during our weekly TWiTS-athon, but this news is too good to confine to a bulleted list.

Tired of determining a shop’s popularity the old-fashioned way—through tedious censuses and embarrassingly flatulent phone surveys? Tired of leafing through blog post after blog post just to get a scoop on the hottest shop? There has to be a better way!

Is it a faux pas to post a screenshot of another blog? I hope not!

Introducing the Teeco Chart, direct from the diabolical masterminds at OMG Tees to your browser window! Utilizing the latest in “smartypants algorithm” technology, OMG Tees technicians meticulously compile the list that tells you which t-shirt companies receive the most internet chatter.

As nifty as the Teeco Chart may be, I’m frankly more interested in OMG Tees’ Tee Chart (charting shirts, not stores!), which should apparently be “coming soon.” Yes—but soon enough?

Updated: Vector Design Tutorials

I’ve been compiling the vector design tutorials from GoMediaZine in one big, well-organized, bullet-pointed list here, and I’ve just updated it because Go Media have just posted another tutorial on creating intricate patterns in Illustrator. It’s pretty nifty, so you should check it out!

The Most T-Shirt-Lovingest State in the Union?

California: The Most T-Shirt-Lovingest State in the Union!
Darker is better!

Why, it’s California! Based on the breakdown of the readers of Fantastic Blognanza, at least. So you better step it up, other states! Especially you, Wyoming. And you, North Dakota. You’re the two least t-shirt-lovingest states. Having a small population is no excuse!

Super-Fine Contest with Mailbox Tees

The Jaunty Scamp at So Many Shirts And Only One Body alerted the world of this contest currently going down in conjunction with Mailbox Tees just a couple of days ago. The Jauntily Scampish One writes:

In the spirit of the upcoming season, [Karen Merzenich, founder of Mailboxtees] has graciously decided to give some lucky so-and-so a three-month subscription.

All you have to do is give me [The Jaunty Scamp] any two names of the artists from Mailbox Tees that are not mentioned in this post. It’s that simple.

Send answers to keyser1812 [at] sbcglobal [dot] net with “Mailbox Tee Contest” under the subject header by this Sunday evening (11/25/07).

There’s not much time left! Be sure to read the original post carefully so’s you do not bungle this opportunity. Well, what are you waiting for? Get to it! Chop chop! Pip pip pip!

Shirts On Sale: Aggregation With A Smile

It’s getting harder and harder to hold onto your cash these days—the number of t-shirt manufacturers producing new designs each day continues to rise. Kind of. T-shirt enthusiasts “in the know” should be plenty familiar with the most popular of them: Unetee, Shirt.Woot, and ShirtADay, namely.

John, I am so confused, you howl in exasperation. You expect me to keep track of three whole stores that update every single day? There has to be a better way!

Fret no more, citizen. Behold the mighty Shirts On Sale, the answer to your shirtish woes!

Although this isn’t a photograph of the Shirts on Sale crew, they posted it on their About Page. Might as well follow suit!

Shirts on Sale doesn’t limit its t-shirt coverage to just those three online stores, though. They’re also keen on publishing sales from around the web whenever they can. If you know a store that’s slashing prices to an incredible degree, be sure to let them know at shirtsonsale [at] allgoodshirts [dot] com!

And, you know, the site doesn’t limit itself to a mindless aggregation of shirts and sales, either. Each featured t-shirt is accompanied by keen and reasoned commentary, sometimes jocular and sometimes critical. You should check it out! Before it’s too late. Go. Go now.

Part HYA*, Part mimoco, All Awesome

I’m sure you’re all abundantly familiar with Hide Your Arms*, that exceptional t-shirt blog authored by the owl-eyed Andy. If you’re not familiar with HYA*: A) you’re a horrible person, B) the preceeding description pretty much covered the important points, C) I guess you’re not actually all that horrible.

Anyhow, Andy announced a contest of epic proportions this past Wednesday: Hide Your Arms* is teaming up with mimoco in order to host an illustration contest to end all illustration contests.

Hold on, John, you are saying. Just hold on a ding-dang-doggone minute now. What is mimoco, exactly? Well, most of their activities revolve around manufacturing designer USB-flash-drive-toy-monster-things called mimobots:

Owsley Owlbert, part of the mimobot Core Series 2 lineup. If you’re interested, check out the Halo and Star Wars lineups while you’re at it.
Now that that’s out of the way, what are the rules for this auspicious contest? Andy lays it down on the line:

There are three tees from mimoco’s new apparel line up for grabs and all you have to do to win is create an illustration with a mimobot in it. Yeah, it’s that simple. Let your imagination go wild, draw anything you want in any style you want, just make sure it involves a mimobot in some way. You can feel free to incorporate Hide Your Arms into the illustration too, but that isn’t a submission requirement.

Please send your submissions, preferably in a .jpg format and under 1MB in file size, along with your t-shirt size and mailing address to the following e-mail address: competitions [at] hideyourarms [dot] com or, in case that e-mail doesn’t work for some reason info [at] hideyourarms [dot] com.

Be sure to get those submissions in by midnight (GMT) on November 21st, Bonanza Cadets! Because that’s when, you know, the contest ends. Get to it and win those mimoco t-shirts for your own self!
